about
When the sun goes down and the moon comes up, the bartenders, hustlers, pleasure wranglers and midnight riders emerge into New Orleans’ tropical haze. In this moonlight, The Hawtsies stroll. Every now and again, these gents rise, like a fine black mist, in another town. But most of the devoted will lack patience, and are well-advised to book a ticket to the Big Easy to await their seduction. While this power quartet appear more frequently than Haley’s Comet, the conjuring between these musicians, who are all involved in various other musical projects, emits a particular energy that elevates deceptively simple songs to another plane. The Hawtsies are not a weekly grind, but a swinging vibe that is joyous in the extreme. I know, you say you don’t dance. But you will dance. Why fight it?
lyrics
Skinny Bones
I can take your sticks I can take your stones
just don’t be throwing them skinny bones
yeah don’t be throwing them skinny bones at me
You can do what you want in your mamma’s home
you can do anything when you’re on your own
just don’t be throwing them skinny bones at me
When I met you babe, you were all alone
just hanging there in that dress you sewn
and you started throwing your skinny bones at me
You can do what you want in your mamma’s home
you can do anything when you’re on your own
just don’t be throwing them skinny bones at me
Your skinny bones is kinda scary
you must have found them in the cemetery
they’re gonna leave me howling at the moon
ahhhwooooooo!
I can take your sticks I can take your stones
just don’t be throwing them skinny bones
no don’t be throwing them skinny bones at me
no don’t be throwing them skinny bones at me
